Meet The Chickz
Layne Ransom owes you some money. She is currently a poetry editor for The Broken Plate. She once ran over a felled tree with a ’97 Oldsmobile Cutlass. Her blog exists. Shot to the heart, and she’s to blame. She gives love a bad name.
Elysia Smith has a lot of salt shakers but don’t ask her to dance like one. She sometimes goes to New Orleans because it is beautiful and smells like beer but also magnolias. Tattoos are pretty, she was once quoted as saying. All in all, she treasures her friends, especially the Chicklitz. Lastly, she would like the world to know that this is not a phase and words are more or less the magic in her palms or at least she’d like to think so. Being a broke-ass writer is cool.
Lora Lee Thompson is a senior at Ball State University, majoring in creative writing. She was the lead prose editor for ‘The Broken Plate’s’ Spring 2010 edition. She enjoys binding books, working on her Celine Dion impersonation, playing guitar, complaining about politics, pop culture and the weather, and putting things off until the last minute. Lora would eventually like to write for and create television shows (TINA FEY IF YOU READ THIS PLEASE GIVE ME A JOB). Until then, she sometimes bitches about things at http://leeraloo.wordpress.com/. Also, THIS be her Tumblr and THIS be her Twitter. She’s so internet savvy, you don’t even know.
Abby Grindle graduated from Ball State University with a B.A. in telecommunications. She likes to read anything by Lorrie Moore, drink Dr. Pepper, and dance around like she’s being electrocuted. When she grows up, she wants to be a film director, a non-fiction writer, and a nurse. Also, she has three cats. Her most recent work has been published in Anatomy, nano+spector, Prime Mincer and ChamberFour.
Lindsey P LaVal really likes her middle initial and wants you to lay off, Layne Ransom. By that she means, the Chicklitz mean a lot to her, and she wants to hug it out.
She’s a senior at Ball State University, but plans on doing that again because growing up makes her nervous. She has a story coming out in the Broken Plate, as well as The Odyssey this year and recently took second place in the Ball State Writer’s Gala.
She lives with people who are not her mother. She is really moving up in the world.

Ashley mostly writes non-fiction (for now). She is the blog editor for Specter Magazine. She has been published in the 2011 Spring edition of The Broken Plate and will be published in PANK 6. She is a contributer at VouchedBooks.com. She loves volunteering, camping, taking pictures, and finding old things that are still good.

I can’t wait for this to start! And Lindsey, you need some copy girl, but I feel extra special that for now it’s a pic of you blowing out your 95th birthday candles for Tommy and Lou!
